Album Release Party

People! The time has come.

The result of a year’s worth of hard work, The Adventures of The One Hand Bandit and The Slum Computer Wizard will be presented on Saturday, August 25th in the Antique lounge, downstairs at China1 (50 Ave B between 3rd and 4th Streets).

To hear and cop the album before everyone else does, come before 10 for the listening party. This is all FREE, so put aside $10… the first 50 people to buy a printed copy of the album will receive some bonus material (word is Overture cooked up a crazy mix as a gift to our fans). The album will also be available for digital download next week, after we recover from the weekend:

JUST ANNOUNCED: The show is still free, but if you want to drop $20, you get an open bar from 9-11. Word to Big Bird. And oh yeah, please tell me you’ve heard Overture’s preview mix already:

Almost finished…

The collaborative debut of The One Hand Bandit and The Slum Computer Wizard is in the final stages of mixing and sequencing, and will be out in August. We’ll be having a release party (most likely at China1) so get ready. This has been a year-long process for both me and Ryan – frustrating at times, rewarding at others, but well worth it in the end. We’ve put a lot of work into this and the first people to buy the album in August will get some exclusive bonus material along with the album. Guest shots? I’ll keep my mouth shut for now… let’s just say you’ll be enjoying this one front to back. I don’t believe in albums that aren’t dope all the way through. Shout out to Brooklyn Vegan who helped get the Voxtrot Remix downloaded over 1,000 times last week. This Saturday we’re back at China1 with a vengeance. It’s Overture are really killin it with the hip hop mixes lately. I’ll be spinning a good amount of that boom bap this weekend, but I think I might have to break out some ragga tunes so dusty that all people born after 1970 will just have to act like they know. Ah so it go:

Artcrime #1

A bunch of new shit for you today. First of all, I dug up an old Brennoir remix of the best Voxtrot song. Yeah, I know they’re hipsters and the hype has died down but that’s exactly why I feel this song needs to be revisited. I posted it in the new singles section (for stuff that I’m not sure I can or want to categorize). Also, the photo gallery is now fully functional. Old photos have been posted and new ones will be added as they get taken at shows. Most importantly… Theory Events is starting up our monthly Saturday this weekend in the basement of China1, Antique. Anyone who was there last time I did a set knows that wild Jamaicans follow me like I was ackee and saltfish. Don’t front, I’m a natural born soundmurderer:

The mailing list is up.

That monthly we were aiming for at China1 (Antique)… yeah, we locked it down. The owner liked us so much he asked me to take over the downstairs bar the next weekend. We’ll be back for the monthly kickoff on Saturday, June 30th. It’s getting hectic trying to keep everyone up to date on what I’m doing and still have time to actually MAKE music, so I’ve finally added a mailing list. See that box to the right? Throw your email in and hit Join. I’ll get at you with new shit every once in a while. Ryan and I are working hard on finishing our debut. Hear some brand new tracks this Friday:

Theory Events at China1

We’re gunning for a monthly spot at China1. Support us by coming to the best free party in the East Village this Friday, thrown by Theory Events. This will be going on from 9pm til 4am, and I convinced Outputmessage to make the trek up from DC to open the night. Then it will be me and Verse (of It’s Overture fame) taking turns on the decks, punishing China1’s sound system til they beg us to stop the murderation. Joining us will be rudebwoy Kerosene (whose last performance had Junior Demus putting his gunfinger in the air) and the big homie Ryan-O’Neil mindfucking you with his flows. If you hate real hip hop, dancehall, and hot bitches sweating to the not-so-oldies, then please stay at home this Friday. From what I hear the max capacity is 200 but you might just want to get there early, as this promises to be huge…

The end of an era

It’s finally time. All my people in college are graduating and the last gasp of the Francis Estate is upon us. Note that this will be at another house near the Ford dealership, since my landlord won’t allow me back in my old house (no joke). That should give you some indication of how ridiculous our parties are. If you’ve ever been promised debauchery of mythical proportions when you got to school and were sorely disappointed by legions of douchebags, this is for you. We don’t fuck around and this Saturday is your last chance, Maryland. Twist your shirt around your head like a helicopter when I drop Petey Pablo’s “Raise Up” All City Remix:

I woke up early on my born day…

BIG UP Ryan-O’Neil. Happy 23rd you bumbo claat rasta. In other news, we’ll be at Niagara tonight around 10:30 or 11. What is it with these unreadable flyers lately? Anyway, come dance. Oh yeah… Karma done fucked up and won’t let anyone on the mic for April 11th. However, it’ll be me and It’s Overture punishing the decks from 8:00 PM on. I know it’s a Wednesday, but I’m on from 8 til 11 for you nine-to-fivers and then Overture will take over. Then me and Ryan got Niagara again the 19th and we fly upstate to HWS College for a show on the 21st. The album is coming along nicely, so come see us if you want to hear some gems before they’re released into the wild. Last thought: I came across Stretch Armstrong’s blog recently and some of you might appreciate the rare shit he’s posting:

Knitting Factory Debut

We’re headlining a show at the Knitting Factory on March 24th – I’m spinning classic tracks for an hour or so and then Ryan-O’Neil will spit his meanest verses for you in top form. Expect to hear lots of new original material mixed with classic ish. There will also be a freestyle battle for a cash prize. Here’s the flyer. I know it’s hard to read but if you bring one, it’s $7 instead of $10. It’ll be worth it.

Colonel K Speaks… to me

’07 is well underway, let’s get this ball rolling. Colonel K, aka The Reverend, aka the venerable Patrick Kagwa Kigongo has been kind enough to put together a little piece on me and I suggest you all go read it. Why he’s not yet writing for a music magazine, I’ll never know. Also… Ryan and I are getting booked for more and more shows. Come out and support us, especially at the Knitting Factory on March 24th. It’s a Saturday so you have no excuse not to come hear our new joints before the album drops.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Seeing as you all have given me such love for the new shit, I figured it’s time to repay you (yes, already). I got inspired last night and put together a little mix for Valentine’s Day. Enjoy:
