I’m packing my bags for the midwest and Canada this week. The Slackers are bringing me along as selector for their fall tour. I’m digging through the crates for rare gems, so whether your thing is reggae, ska, soul, rocksteady, funk, or just about anything dusty… I got you covered. Our run kicks off in Harrisburg this Thursday and continues for most of October. For a full list of dates, check the flyer below:

I’m not dead (yet).

Yeah, I’m still alive. I’ve been working on some top secret live musical arrangements, as well as the usual original productions and remixes. I quit my day job a few months ago and have a lot of time to think now. Tonight I’m heading to Vermont for a few weekend gigs with the man called Tito. He says we’re going to jump in lakes and hang out with hippies. Check the sidebar for show information if you want to come see me. That’s all folks.

Incredibowl Extravaganja

I’m in Boulder with The Prime, Ryan-O’Neil, HiCoup & Menny More getting ready for this 4/20 event sponsored by Incredibowl. If you’re in Colorado and you love reggae and rap, come out to The Root tonight. I brought my echo box.

The Great Rocksteady Swindle

Been a while, what’s up world? I tend to hibernate a bit in winter. I’m just popping my head out to show you this promo mix I put together for The Slackers’ forthcoming album, The Great Rocksteady Swindle. Peep Kerosene toasting over some heavy riddims from one of NYC’s most soulful groups:

I’ve got some more local gigs coming up, and will post about that soon. Til then, be easy…

Gros Fête

This Thursday, Drum Attix & Theory Events present Gros Fête: a multimedia wet dream featuring DJ Ayres (The Rub) on the decks, a gallery exhibition showcasing up-and-coming local artists and a 360° immersive video installation by the Glass Bead Collective.

This free event at Gallery Bar will be hosted by my longtime collaborator MC Ryan-O’Neil with the usual Theory / Drum Attix resident DJs: myself, It’s Overture and DJ Scallywag. We’re all looking forward to flanking Brooklyn heavyweight DJ Ayres. The mixed media art show includes works by Lauren Bahr, Lindsay Bourget and Math-You Namie. Doors at 6 PM!

There’s one more left; that’s Monday in Philly (the show was pushed back to Monday due to the weather). Download Winter Skank for free now:

Slackfest 2009

Busy week for me. I’m going down to the Cackalacks for a benefit show – support the Scott Free foundation, they send underpriveleged kids in North Carolina to summer camp. I’ll be spinning funk, soul, country, and folk for folks down in Raleigh. But first…

It’s Slackfest 2009! Once again I’m bringing out the heavy Jamaican crates to spin between sets for The Slackers, alongside Mighty Fine, Sean Wheeler and Zander Schloss (Circle Jerks). You’ll be hearing some ska, rocksteady, reggae, soul and anything that makes you wanna move. Tickets are $16 in advance and $18 the night of the show, doors open at 8pm.
